How to chant Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra?
1. Use 108 beads Rudraksha Mala. (Proper handling of Mala is important)
2. Do Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra recitation in multiples of 108 counts. (108, 216, 324...)
3. Link your mind to Lord Shiva and do not let it divert.
4. Silent (Mansik) Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra japa is best.
5. Brahma Muhurat is best for most Mantra Japa. (Usually 4.30am to 6am) that is one and a half hour before sunrise.
6. Concentrate at your eyebrows centre in your forehead.
7. If you do not have a Guru who can initiate you, ask Shiv Ji to be your Guru and to provide you guidance.

Once you are acquainted to this mode of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra Japa, move on to silent recitation. The lips should not move, nor should there be any sound. Just recite the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra in your mind. If you notice that you are losing concentration then temporarily start chanting it aloud and then move on to silent mode once the concentration is back on track. Chanting the mantra at a fast pace is believed to generate more powerful energy and keep the devotee alert. However, slow chanting also can be done.
